What is Firefly Light Therapy?

Firefly represents the latest technology in light therapy. It accelerates the healing of a wide variety of chronic conditions and soft tissue injuries. It can relieve pain, promote wound healing, and provide therapy for arthritic conditions and neuropathy.

How does it work?

Firefly multi-spectrum therapy emits packets of light called photons. Photons break the painful inflammatory cycle by dilating small blood and lymphatic vessels. This increase in circulation removes the irritating inflammation, resulting in accelerated healing and pain relief. The immune and nervous systems are also stimulated by light, increasing activity for faster repair of damaged tissues.

Numerous tests show that these benefits are due to an increase in the release of nitric oxide. Nobel laureate Robert Furchgott (et al., JPET 113:22, 1955) demonstrated the ability of light energy to induce vaso-relaxation, and NASA and the military used light therapy successfully in the 1970s.

See the results

A special camera that takes infrared (heat) images of the body lets us actually see the effects of Firefly therapy. After a series of treatments, circulation is restored and inflammation is reduced, allowing the body to heal.

Questions & answers

Are treatments painful?

No. Unlike other modalities, no sticky pads or cold gels are required. Most people feel no particular sensation other than a slight warmth caused by increased blood circulation to the treatment area.

What about radiation or burning?

Firefly therapy does not emit any x-ray or other ionizing radiation. It only emits diffused light, greatly reducing the risk of burn.

Are there any contraindications?

Firefly light therapy is not applied over cancer, infection, or on a pregnant woman. It is not used on the eyes, and safety glasses are always worn during treatment for protection.

Can it be combined with other therapies?

Yes. Firefly therapy works well alone or with other integrative approaches such as acupuncture, chiropractic and physical therapy.

How many treatments do I need?

This varies with many factors, including how long the condition has been present, the strength of the immune system and the frequency of treatments. A series of 4 treatments is usually given to evaluate effectiveness and decide how many more sessions are appropriate.

Are there side effects?

Rarely. Usually only relief is felt, but occasionally people may experience mild temporary dizziness, or a temporary increase in pain in the day or days following treatment. In rare cases mild bruising may occur from increased blood circulation, and people taking medication that increases sensitivity to light may have skin reactions.

Is it safe for children and seniors?

Yes. Because the treatment is so comfortable, children and seniors usually welcome it. It is also safe to apply Firefly therapy over many types of implanted medical devices.
